Computer
Lab Up and Running!
Thanks to the efforts of Mr.
Hahn (Kai’s dad) and Mr. Taylor (Paige’s dad) we have our
computer lab up and running. For the first time,
students will have internet access and the ability tWe o print
from their computer!
Teachers and students are equally excited to have this
wonderful resource at our finger-tips! Students will be using
the computers for a variety of subjects, with teachers
scheduling time for their classes to work in the Lab. THANK YOU MR.
HAHN and MR. TAYLOR!!!!!!!
PE: Focus on
Fitness
Coach J is making the most
of our hard-surface “PE Court”. Math students have
measured out a 50-yard dash to run as well as measured out how
many laps it takes to make one mile (13+!). Students are having
fun running relay races, playing four-square and other
activities. They
will be working on Presidential Fitness standards as well,
including running a half-mile for elementary age students and
1-mile for middle-school age students.
2-Liter
Soda Bottles Needed
Coach J is requesting that each
student bring in an empty plastic 2-liter soda bottle, rinsed
out with the cap on.
We will making them into bowling pins for
PE.
Self-Portraits in Art Class
Students are finishing up their
self-portraits in Art class. The students have done
a terrific job on these.
Parents will be able to order their child’s
self-portrait on a variety of products, from mugs to
mouse-pads to t-shirts, through the Original Works
program. Ordering
information on this program will be sent home in few weeks
with your child.
Also, Ms. Pam is requesting that students send in clean
styrofoam produce trays and egg cartons. NO TRAYS USED FOR
MEAT, PLEASE!
Students
Learning Aerobics
Mrs. Taylor, Paige’s mom, is an
Aerobics instructor and has been kind enough to work with our
girls during Monday PE time, teaching them Aerobics. They are learning more
and more steps/moves, and soon will be working out with the
best!
Violin
CD’s Sent Home
Thank you to Mrs. Candelario
(Emilio’s mom) for burning the Suzuki Violin CD’s for Ms.
Lamboley. Please
play these CD’s in your car, at home, before bed. Listening is an
integral part of the Suzuki method of teaching. Your child will get
more out of their music class if they listen to the CD
occasionally throughout the week.
Free
Concert
Ms. Lamboley, our music
teacher, is the Principle Violist for the Gainesville Chamber
Orchestra. They
are performing a free concert Wednesday, October
17th, 7:00 p.m. at

"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Trinity
Lutheran
Church,
401 5th
Street, St.
Petersburg. This is a wonderful
opportunity to expose your children to live, classical music
as they will be performing the famous Schubert “Trout”
quintet.
Box Tops
for Education
Mrs. Craig (David’s mom)
has volunteered to coordinate our Box Tops for Education
program this year.
Please remember to clip the coupons from participating
products and send them in with your child.
Pizza-Hut
Book It! Program
The dePaul
School
participates in the Pizza-Hut “Book-It” program. Students receive a
coupon for a free personal pan pizza when they earn a tag
day. Coupons are
redeemable at any Pizza Hut restaurant (drive-thru as
well).
Scholastic Book
Orders
We are so thankful to have
Mrs. Barnett, Michael’s mom, handling all of our Scholastic
Book orders once again this year. Our initial order has
been delayed as a result of our address change (books went to
Michigan!). We will be sure to get
the books out as soon as they arrive. Thanks for your
patience!
Thank You
Friday Pizza/PE Volunteers
Ms. Lantz (Jesse’s mom), Mrs.
Smith (Katie’s mom), Mrs. Hahn (Kai’s mom) and Mrs. Scott
(Matthew’s mom).
We appreciate your help!

our pest control needs!

St.
Matthias Youth Movie Night
The third Friday of every month
is Youth Movie Night at St. Matthias. This is something the
whole family can enjoy.
Movies will be shown on the big-screen TV in Fellowship
Hall; there will even be “movie food” to complete the
experience.
Movies start at 7:00 p.m. Although the movie
nights are described as youth events, grown-ups are more than
welcome.
Patience
and Promptness....
The car line seems to be going
very quickly and smoothly. We do have one
request.....parents, please be patient, do not pull out around
a parked car in front of you. Wait for the car in
front of you to leave.
Also please remember how important it is for your child
to be at school on time.
Students miss extremely valuable class time by being
just a few minutes late!
Speech/Language, OT Screenings
Screenings are in the processs
of being completed.
Screening results will be sent home with your
child. If you are
interested in further evaluation or have questions, please
contact Foundations Therapy at 724-5437.
